Located in the heart of downtown Kirkland, Marina Park and Heritage Park are located just a hop, skip and jump away from each other, and both provide absolutely drool worthy views of Lake Washington. There is ample parking at each location, plus street parking close by. Both parks allow leashed pets so the furriest members of your family are welcome to come along too!

Heritage Hall is located between the two parks and their flower garden is filled with beautiful, vibrant blooms in the spring and summer. The hall is often rented out for events, but if it’s available I like to stop here for some portraits in the flowers and against the white trellis and walls.

One of my favorite things about these parks is that they’re super close to downtown Kirkland which means we can also capture some portraits with a small city feel during our session. If you’re wanting a coffee pick-me-up we can stop by Zoka or Thruline, or if it’s a sunny day and you want to pose with some fun props we can pick up gelato from Sirena Gelato or ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s.

When you’re putting together your outfits for Marina Park and Heritage Park, go for a mix of 3-4 colors and play around with different textures. The idea is to create a cool vibe where ya’ll aren’t matchy-matchy. Keep it relaxed and have fun with your style! I’m happy to jump on a video call with you to go through your closets. If you’re on the Eastside or in the Seattle area, I can come to your home to help you select and style your family’s clothing – a complimentary service when you book a session with me!

You can check out my What To Wear – Families board on Pinterest for some outfit and color palette inspiration. I also created this Reel showing how I styled outfits for my family’s portrait session.
